Minister Plumb: Bill on subsidies for social services to be reviewed

The draft law on providing subsidies for social services will be reviewed, because, under its current form, the text is a source of discrimination, Minister of Labour Rovana Plumb told the TV show “After 20 Years”, aired by Pro TV private broadcaster on Sunday. “In my opinion, the current text of the bill is a source of discrimination, because more funds would be allotted to rural areas. But there are also issues when it comes to the urban areas,” Rovana Plumb said.
The Romanian minister also said that she seeks a real increase in the number of employees of 400,000, at least, by 2016 and to pull out one million workers from the black market.
As for the disadvantaged social categories, Plumb said that she considers installing surveillance cameras in the foster care centers for children and the elderly, in order to prevent any sort of abuse against them. At the same time, she pointed out that in her opinion, the elderly should be taken care of in their homes and not in foster care centers, and the relatives taking care of them should be paid for their work.
