More than 200 candidates in 35 countries at ‘George Enescu’ contest


More than 200 candidates in 35 countries such as Germany, Japan, the US and Australia registered for the 14th edition of the International Contest “George Enescu” to be held between September 6 and 27 in Bucharest, reports a release quoted by Mediafax. So far, 220 competitors registered at the contest. Most of them are competing at the Piano section, 81, whereas at the Violin section there are 64 and 34 at the Cello section. The rest of 41 participants registered with the Composition section. The participation at the International Contest George Enescu is on an upward trend as the number of competitors this year is 20 per cent higher than in 2011 where there were only 183. Among the candidates registered this year, 28 are from Romania.
The competitors registered come from 35 countries, Romania, Germany, the US, France, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Moldova, Israel, Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Ukraine, Belarus, Greece, China, Estonia, Georgia, Poland, Spain, Bulgaria, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Australia and Austria. The registrations for the International Contest “George Enescu” concluded on July 1.
The prizes of the Enescu Contest at this year’s edition amount to EUR 100,000. For the first time, the laureates are provided the opportunity to participate in a master class with grand musicians of the world at the Vienna Music Academy as well as the possibility to sing on major stages in Romania along the philharmonics.
