The National Library in Bucharest will be hosting, Saturday and Sunday, the second edition of the Sci+Fi FEST festival of Sci-Fi literature, which brings to the public Romanian scientists, science fiction authors and promoters of Romanian Sci-Fi.
The festival also includes astronomical observations using professional telescopes, scientific and Sci-Fi book launches, mini-conferences and workshops, exhibitions of robots, drones, green technologies and electric cars.
On the first day of the festival, the public is invited to exhibitions and live demonstrations, both inside the National Library and in the outdoor parking lot, starting at 17:00. Saturday is also set for a marathon of mini-conferences dedicated to Romanian research, and at the end of the day, Stiinta & Tehnica publication will present for the first time the main conclusions of its #MareaExpeditieAmericana journey, as well as a special edition of the magazine dedicated to this unique mission in the publication’s 70-year history.
The events on Sunday start at 11:00hrs with a series of educational presentations that reveal some of the eminent Romanian students and their winning projects at various international competitions.
They continue with a unique conference on e-mobility, and also a moment of fencing demonstration. The second part of the day is dedicated to SF & Fantasy writers and publishers, and in the evening Stiinta & Tehnica will be awarding prizes to prestigious Sci-Fi authors, as well as researchers, inventors and scientists of the moment.
Admission to the Sci-Fi FEST 2017 is free. Children, pupils and students are welcome, as the organisers would like to familiarise them with science and technology and work up their appetite for careers in scientific research and innovation.
The event is organised by the Bucharest City Hall, through the Bucharest Museum and the National Museum of Romanian Literature, the Ministry of Culture and National Identity, the National Library of Romania and Stiinta & Tehnica.
