Vice Prime Minister for National Security, Minister of Internal Affairs Gabriel Oprea, conferred in a ceremony on Wednesday the Honor Plaque of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) upon His Excellence Matthijs van Bonzel, ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as a mark of appreciation for his entire activity in support of the Romanian national security and of the consolidation of the rule of law, a release of the Ministry of Internal Affairs remitted on Wednesday to Agerpres.
The Honor Plaque is the most important distinction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that is granted to Romanian and foreign personalities for their constant support granted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and for major contributions to the development of the Romanian national security domain, the release shows.
The ambassador reaffirmed his country’s support for the consolidation of the rule of law, inclusively through the consolidation of the national security institutions of the Romanian state, recalling as examples in this sense the collaboration at police level and the support granted for the fight against corruption.
The Vice Prime Minister thanked the Dutch authorities for their support to Romania in the process of modernizing national institutions and of consolidation of the values of democracy, especially in the fight against corruption and in continued reforms of the Judiciary.
Furthermore, he expressed appreciation for the support of the Dutch Embassy in Bucharest to the development of the General Anti-corruption Directorate of the MAI, ever since that structure became operational in 2005.
