Nicusor Constantinescu could have been operated in the country, medical documents not authentic

Nicusor Constantinescu received the permission to undergo surgery within the US although the Romanian health system had both the medical equipment and the high-quality doctors necessary, while the documents from the US cannot be considered authentic, the Bucharest Court of Appeals (CAB) stated when explaining its decision to reject the request to revoke the judicial control measure. Moreover, CAB points out that the Constanta County Council chairman has also filed “a set of staged photographs” which show that he is not in a hospital but in a private room instead.
Nicusor Constantinescu is also under scrutiny over his last statement of assets which shows that he transferred on his wife’s name a house and a plot of land in Constanta and donated a house to each of his two children. According to his statement of assets, Constantinescu continues to have a bank deposit of USD 987,000, shares in several companies, five cars, a boat, paintings, jewelry and art objects.
