Pascal Bruckner, special guest at Gaudeamus Book Fair

The Gaudeamus International Fair – Learning Book, the 19th edition, will take place at the Romexpo Central Pavilion, Bucharest, from Wednesday until Sunday.

This year, the organisers are celebrating the Romanian language and culture in its entirety, by having R. Moldova participate as guest of honour – a challenge to dialogue and a necessary reconnection to the novelties of the cultural and publishing life on the other side of the River Prut. Apart from Moldovan writers and people of cultures invited, the air will also enjoy the presence of the journalists from Teleradio Moldova. Having been the 2011 guest of honour, Italy is back to Gaudeamus in 2012 as a privileged partner: resounding names in the contemporary Italian literature, journalists as well as editors and literary agents will be the protagonists of events organised at the Italian stand this edition. In an exclusive interview for Nine O’Clock HE Mr Mario Cospito, the Italian Ambassador in Romania, said: “It is a great honour to have received Radio Romania’s proposal to continue our active participation to the Gaudeamus Book Fest. (…) Among the main guests, we will have the pleasure to introduce Professor Giacomo Marramao, one of the most important Italian living philosophers, and Marcello Fois, a regarded author who participated to the final selection in the Italian Literacy Award (‘Premio Strega’) in 2012. (…) Mariano Deidda will perform a jazz concert, through which he will bring on stage Cesare Pavese’s best works, one of the main Italian authors of the 20th century. Furthermore, the oenologist Luca Maroni will hold a meeting dedicated to the pleasures of the table. Lastly, it’s my duty to highlight the pivotal role of the Italian Publishers Association (A.I.E.) in the success of the Italian participation at Gaudeamus Festival. It guarantees the presence of over thirty publishing houses”.On the Gaudeamus book fair you can also find big names in international literature. If Editura Trei is bringing Pascal Bruckner to meet with his Romanian fans on the occasion of the launching of the newest translation of his  ‘Fanaticii apocalipsei’ / ‘Le fanatisme de l’Apocalypse’ (Saturday from 11 :00), other publishers are bringing the latest productions of some of the most famous names in contemporary literature.
