Vinci-Strabag-Akor Association wins tender for construction works of Comarnic-Brasov.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta opened yesterday the 4th lot of the motorway stretch linking Orastie to Sibiu (central Romania), Agerpres reports. The lot located in Sibiu county is 16.610 kilometer long. He was greeted, among others, by Sibiu mayor Klaus Iohannis and minister Dan Sova, with whom he cut the ribbon. The event was also attended by the prefect of Sibiu, Ovidiu Sitterli, and the mayors of localities situated along the motorway in Sibiu County. During the event, at a distance there were several youths displaying banners with “We are proud with everything Victor Ponta makes for peace” “And we are eagerly awaiting the 14th Congress.”
After cutting the tape, the premier jokingly told the officials of the contracting companies: “The work is done, now we can pay for it.” “For the region, for everybody along the motorway, economic results will be evident soon. The transport infrastructure means support for everyone and now we are fortunate to have this motorway, especially as you know what happened to every commune crossed by the national road,” Ponta mentioned.
After he was presented the technical data of the project, Ponta boarded an automobile and went toward Sebes, stopping at the Sacel tunnel to see it.
The contract on the Design and Building of Orastie – Sibiu motorway, Lot 4 km 65+965 – km 80+070 amounts to nearly RON 531M, pre-VAT, with 40.03 percent of it having been settled in 2013, says a release issued by the Department for Infrastructure Projects of a National Interest and Foreign Investments
The construction of the Sibiu-Orastie motorway began in October 2011, in presence of then PM Emil Boc and of former minister Anca Boagiu.  The project is 85 pc financed by the European Union through the Cohesion Fund, with the remaining 15 pc being provided by the government.
On the other hand, PM Victor Ponta announced that the Vinci-Strabag-Akor Association was the winner of the tender for the construction works of the motorway segment Comarnic (southern Romania)-Brasov (central). Submitting bids for winning the ‘The public works concession agreement regarding the design, building, financing, operation and maintenance of the Bucharest-Brasov Motorway, the Comarnic-Brasov segment, from km 110+600 – km 168+600’ were the Vistrada Nord Association (Vinci/France), Strabagn/Austria and Aktor (Greece) and the Impregilo SpA Association from Italy, according to the Department for Infrastructure Projects and Foreign Investments.
The Vinci – Aktor Association was awarded this project in 2009 and subsequently dropped it, because the Romanian state did not accept certain clauses. The construction cost of the motorway amounts to approximately EUR 1.2 – 1.3 bln, the construction will start next April and might be completed in 2016 or 2017, the delegate minister for Infrastructure Projects, Dan Sova announced recently. The speed limit will be 130 km/h and the toll might be set at 3 EUR/100 km. The EIB, EBRD and World Bank expressed their interest for financing the project, the minister added.

Pity old “Copy & Paste” Ponta did not explain why no emergency phones are in place along the route despite sign posts indicating Emergency Phone location, and probably (certainly) the rest stops / toilets are closed as well.
