PM Tudose meets World Bank delegation. WB to support Ploiesti-Brasov motorway project implementing

Prime Minister Mihai Tudose at the Victoria Governmental Palace on Tuesday had a meeting with a World Bank delegation, headed by Tatiana Proskuryakova, country manager, on the topic of road infrastructure projects, in which context the international institution representatives conveyed the WB decision to support the implementation of the Ploiesti – Brasov motorway project.

According to a Government press statement, the PM appreciated the WB decision to join in Romania’s Government’s efforts in the motorway building area.

“We hail the World Bank’s decision to support the modernisation and development of the transport infrastructure of Romania, a priority area for the Government. We want this strategically important project, funded by the World Bank, to represent the beginning of a paradigm shift in the investment area in road infrastructure,” Tudose said.

During the meeting the speakers also established the necessary measures for initiating the Ploiesti – Brasov motorway project, with WB assistance. To this end, a coordination committee will be set up within the Government’s Secretariat General, headed by Deputy PM Ion Marcel Ciolacu, and a project implementing unit will be set up with the Transport Ministry, in charge with the technical component.

Transport Minister Felix Stroe, who will coordinate the technical implementing of the project, said that the institution he is headed will completely get involved in achieving this goal.

Also attending the meeting on behalf of the Government were Deputy PM Ion Marcel Ciolacu, Transport Minister Felix Stroe, Public Finance Minister Ionut Misa, Government Secretary General Roxana Banica, Transport Ministry Secretary of State Maria Magdalena Grigore, and State advisors Daniela Mocanu and Felix Rache.
