PNL co-chair Gorghiu: Even if we have 10 voting buttons, the Dragnea law shall not pass

National Liberal Party co-chair Alina Gorghiu stated Wednesday that she sees no need to add an extra voting button to the voting device in the Chamber of Deputies to confirm the presence of deputies.

“Even if we have ten voting buttons, Mr. Dragnea’s law cannot and will not pass. You know, with one extra button or one less, things must unfold in accordance with regulations. The fact that the PSD [Social Democratic Party] head still insists, after all debates in the Chamber of Deputies’ plenum, to put here his defamation card is beyond me, I really don’t understand this futile approach and he is putting his colleagues in a pretty tough and ridiculous situation,” Gorghiu said at the Palace of Parliament.

Gorghiu also added that the costs of this system must be put up for discussion, by means of a tender book prepared by the Chamber of Deputies.

“Now another button is wanted, which requires an additional software or updating the existing one, other financial resources of the Chamber of Deputies dedicated to this system only to brush the ego of the PSD leader. I do not see this initiative to brush the ego as necessary, but we will see what happens. I will wait for the opinions of colleagues in my group on Monday,” Gorghiu said, according to Agerpres.

The remarks come after discussions arose to add another button to the voting console deputies use, in order for them to confirm their presence in the plenum. Doubts were cast on the validity of the vote on the Law regarding the promotion of human dignity (dubbed the Defamation Law) in the Chamber of Deputies on February 17, spurring the debate.
