Prosecutors with the criminal investigation and criminalistics Department of the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) ordered the beginning of criminal proceedings against National Liberal Party (PNL) Deputy Grigore Craciunescu for conflict of interests, Mediafax quoted a Public Ministry press release as saying. In his capacity of mayor of Pascani, 2008-2012, Grigore Craciunescu “drew up documents and took part in decisions that brought material benefits to his son”. “The defendant is charged with violating legal stipulations in several contracts where his son was main shareholder/manager,” according to the quoted source. Craciunescu denies the accusations. “I want to see what the file is about. As far as I’m concerned, this is no conflict of interests, since there has been no contract stipulation between the Pascani Town Hall and the company owned by my son, Adrian Daniel Craciunescu.
The focus is on some additional documents to a dental office concession contract wherein money were paid to the Town Hall and not the other way around,” realitatea.net quoted the PNL deputy as saying. The day before, prosecutors at the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court announced that Social-Democrat Deputy Sonia Maria Draghici and former deputy Ioan Cindrea are being investigated for conflict of interests for hiring her son and his wife respectively for their parliamentary offices.
