Pregnant woman diagnosed with AH1N1 flu
A 31-year-old pregnant woman from Timisoara has been hospitalized in a serious condition in the city’s county hospital, being diagnosed with AH1N1 flu. The woman has been fitted with an “artificial lung” and doctors are reserved in what concerns her chances. “We have a lady hospitalized with a confirmed AH1N1 flu diagnosis, she is pregnant and has a severe, life-threatening form of the virus. We have fitted her with an artificial lung, however she is in a serious condition, we won’t guarantee she will make it,” Dr. Dorel Sandesc, the head of the county hospital’s anesthesia and intensive care ward, stated. According to the doctor, the woman was hospitalized on Sunday at the “Victor Babes” Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Timisoara where she was fitted with an “artificial lung,” a device that eliminates excess carbon dioxide and oxygenates the blood. She was then taken to the anesthesia and intensive care ward of the county hospital.
