Leaders of the county organisations of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), major at rule, on Thursday and Friday will convene in Tulcea along with the party’s central leadership to put the finishing touches to the party’s campaign for this November’s presidential election.
Expected to attend the meeting are the national leader of the party, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, PSD’s endorsee in the presidential race; PSD Executive Chairman Liviu Dragnea, Ponta’s campaign chief; Secretary General Andrei as well as other important PSD leaders – deputy chairs and ministers.
Sources say that in Tulcea, PSD could draw up a strategy for collecting signatures in support of Ponta’s presidential bid and for organising electoral events nationwide during campaigning.
The party could also analyse the various campaigning strategies of the candidates Ponta will have to face in the first round of the presidential election, with special emphasis on those likely to make it to the second round of the election.
PSD would also analyse the timeliness of new local alliances after the presidential election, so that PSD county leaders may inform the party’s leadership about their problems and voice their dissatisfaction, where there is dissatisfaction.
The meeting of the PSD leadership is scheduled for Friday at 10:00hrs. At 14:00hr PSD leaders could hold a press conference. PSD will convene this evening in an informal meeting.
