National leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea on Monday announced having convened the party’s National Executive Committee (CExN) for Wednesday to assess the job of state secretaries, saying that he does not intend to “execute anyone.” He added that the government would be the one to propose the restructuring or merging of some institutions.
Dragnea said at the end of a meeting of the PSD National Standing Bureau on Monday that Prime Minister Viorica Dancila briefed the party leaders on the period from her inauguration up until now and the actions she has undertaken.
“Also discussed were a set of priorities for the next period, and she also spoke about her strategy for communication and relationship between the government, Parliament and the ruling coalition. They also discussed the important legislative priorities, and the two PSD floor leaders in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies also took the floor (…). We also talked about Wednesday’s CExN convention which main on its agenda will be hopefully concluding the discussion on the assessment of the incumbent state secretaries who are now in office,” said Dragnea.
Asked if restructuring or merging institutions was also discussed, Dragnea said: “I expect the government to come up with such proposals.”
He ruled out a vote in the CExN convention on Wednesday on punishing party members.
Asked about the labour minister’s remarks that those who have not contributed at least 10 years to the pension system will no longer be deemed retirees but socially assisted, Dragnea said he would only express his point of view when he saw “a project that is well analysed and subjected to a discussion inside the governing coalition by the prime minister and the minister in charge.”
“Parliamentary investigation needed regarding some heads of institutions who seem to act illegally”
Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea stated on Monday that a parliamentary investigation on the activity of the Protection and Guard Service (SPP) is needed, but also regarding some heads of various institutions “who seem to be acting illegally.”
“A parliamentary investigation is needed both regarding SPP activity (…) and the relationship of some institutions and some heads of various institutions who seem to act illegally,” Dragnea stated at the PSD headquarters.
