The employees of Bucharest’s public transport administration (RATB) announced on Thursday that they will go on warning strike and the buses, tramways and trolleybuses will not be available on March 25-27 from 6.30 to 8.30 AM, digi24.ro informs. The decision was taken on Thursday after approximately 3,000 RATB employees protested against low salaries and the lack of funds for the maintenance of the vehicles. RATB employees are dissatisfied because they are earning up to RON 3,000, while RATB directors have salaries of up to RON 12,000.
“We want to clearly draw attention to the fact that the situation is disastrous. Especially the material endowments, the lack of spare parts and the management,” Marius Bucur, president of the Free Transporters’ Union in Bucharest, stated. Bucharest’s surface public transport is used by 700,000 people every day.
