The minister of Interior, Radu Stroe lashed out at the chief of the Olt County Police Inspectorate, Ion Voicu, whose name was involved in the case of the female police officer that stabbed her chief, after an alleged rape, and he “guaranteed” that Voicu will never work in the police again. Ion Voicu had been invited to the head offices of the ministry to discuss the case of the policewoman which accused her superior of raping her, but he did not come saying that he was on medical leave, Radu Stroe explained. “I never imagined that so much hoodlumism could exist within the Romanian Police. Today I was told that he has been on medical leave for two weeks,” the minister mentioned while leaving the Ministry. This also makes it impossible for the probe to go on, he added. Radu Stroe explained that Ion Voicu may not be suspended from the position of chief of the Olt County Police Inspectorate “because he is in hospital,” but promised he will find a solution to give a new chief to the county police. “I thought he is a serious person, a military, even though police is no longer militarised, but this is their background. If he were a honest, civilised person, he would have come here, we would have had a discussion and found a solution. (…) I relied on the promise of a person that is the chief of a county police inspectorate, Radu Stroe commented, visibly irritated by the situation.“I guarantee you that he will never work in the police again, not one single day after he returns from leave. For me, it is enough that he did not come when summoned by the MAI,” the minister stated, adding that he believes Ion Voicu “is avoiding the responsibilities he has there.”The end of December was marked by a huge row in the Romanian Police, when a policewoman of Bals (Olt County) stabbed her former chief in the abdomen, after he allegedly raped her. Later, the woman announced in a public letter that the superior also offered her sex services to a prosecutor and three other policemen, including the Olt Police chief.
