Vodafone Partner Markets managing director Ravinder Takkar will lead the subsidiary of the British telecom group in Romania beginning with May 1, replacing Inaki Berroeta, who took over Vodafone Australia since March 1.
“Takkar held the position of managing director of Vodafone Partner Markets since January 2012 by now. He contributed to the business increase by extending Vodafone presence and adding new partners such as Zain Group (Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq), Plus GSM (Poland), Vodafone Brazil, FarEasTone (Taiwan) and Vinaphone (Vietnam),” reads a release of Vodafone Romania sent to Mediafax. Berroeta led Vodafone Romania since December 2010. Takkar joined Vodafone in 1994 and had many executive positions both within Vodafone Group and in joint venture companies. He was member of the board in Vodafone India and at Indus Towers (joint venture between Vodafone India, Airtel and Idea). Prior to working for Vodafone, Takkar was a management consultant for DMR Group.
“By May 1, when Takkar will join the team in Romania, Giovanni Chiarelli will take over the position of interim CEO of Vodafone Romania, Chiarelli will still be the company technical manager of the company, position he has been holding since 2012,” reads the release. Takkar, 45 years old, is an IT graduate of the Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles. He has Indian and US citizenships.
