Since three years, Renault Romania Group is supporting the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) in the extrication and first aid competitions aiming to prepare the specialized staff for emergency interventions. On Wednesday, July 5, the Extrication and Qualified First Aid National Competition began in Bucharest. It gathers, for three days, the best crews in 16 inspectorates for emergency situations, and a team from the Faculty of Firefighters – “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Police Academy, from the Civil Protection and Exceptional Situations from the Republic of Moldova and from the “Pavel Zaganescu” Noncommissioned Officers School of Firefighters and Civil Protection from Boldesti. Renault Romania Group provides a pedagogic support for paramedical firefighters by making 40 vehicles available, road safety being one of the social responsibility axes assumed by the company.
The contest is a learning and skill testing platform, through a strict assessment, where participants are urged to self-assess their technique and practice. The contribution of the Renault Group to this competition is extremely well received by the rescuers, given that they have the opportunity to apply theoretical notions on vehicles, disposed in real scale accident scenarios.
According to the IGSU statistics, approx. 1,800 people die every year in Romania due to road accidents.
Last year the national IGSU competition was held at Renault’s Titu Technical Center (part of Renault Technologie Roumanie), and the group made available other 41 vehicles.
