Romania – R. of Moldova action plan on rural development


Daniel Constantin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Vasile Bumacov, Moldavian Minister of Agriculture, concluded an action plan outlining the cooperation between the Romanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry in the Republic of Moldova within the 2014-2015 timeframe. The plan is aimed at strengthening cooperation in the agriculture sector.
The two officials took part in a wine tasting event under the 29th FAO Regional Conference. A mixed group consisting of agricultural, food industry, and rural development representatives of both sides will thus be formed. The action plan focuses on hosting alternate work-group reunions in the Republic and Romania in order to assess the progress achieved by the cooperation between the two parties, and identify new areas and activities of bilateral cooperation.
To the best of their ability and in accordance with internal regulations and international treaties, the representatives will advance cooperation in the following fields: vegetables and protection of plants, agriculture and rural development, science and professional training, wine preparation, animal husbandry, and organic agriculture. As part of the exhibition, the two officials viewed booths promoting products such as the Topoloveni jam, rose comfiture, the traditional bread Adriana, fish and dairy products, handmade items manufactured by craftsmen, and wines from the Republic of Moldova and Romania. In his turn, Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean received on Thursday, the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Jose Graziano da Silva, talking about issues of interest.
