Romania , the EU’s 10th largest ice cream producer


Romania was the European Union’s 10th largest ice cream producer in 2016, with an output of 44.4 million liters and accounting for 1.4 percent of the EU total production of 3.211 billion liters, shows data released on Wednesday by the EU Statistics Office Eurostat.

Italy tops the list with 595 million liters in 2016, or 19 percent of the EU total production, followed by Germany with 515 million liters (16 percent) of the total and France with 454 million liters (14 percent). Next in the ranking are Spain, Poland, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway (EFTA member) and Romania.

Lower in the ranking than Romania are states such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Finland, Bulgaria and Denmark.
