Romanian Army fighting capacity on CSAT agenda


The Supreme Defence Council (CSAT) summoned yesterday at the Cotroceni Palace for a meeting attended by President Traian Basescu and Premier Victor Ponta. On the agenda was the completion of the Multiannual Programme of restoring the fighting capacity of the Romanian Army for 2013 – 2016 and in perspective to 2022. The session lasted for approximately one hour and a quarter. According to a communique issued by the Presidential Administration, also on agenda were the premier’s report to the Council on the measures taken by Romania in view of enforcing the regime of international sanctions, Romania’s participation to missions under the aegis of the European Union and the stage and perspectives for the implementation of the national strategy on civil capabilities. The Council also discussed the strategy of the national industry of security, the plan of using the Romanian armed forces that are sent on missions and operations abroad in 2014, the present situation of the National Fund for Hosting the Population and the activity programme of CSAT for 2014.
