Romanian-Palestinian Intergovernmental Committee in Bucharest


Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean and his Palestinian counterpart Riad al-Malki on Wednesday chaired the second session of the Romanian-Palestinian Intergovernmental Committee, which reconfirms the interest taken by Romania in participating in the projects on Palestine’s institutional construction and economic development, according to a press release of the Romanian Foreign Ministry. This aim is in full concordance with the principle admitted and watched by Romania and the international community, namely the implementation of the solution of the two states, Israel and Palestine, which should live together in peace and security,’ reads the above-mentioned release.
During the meeting of the Committee, they signed a number of agreements between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and in the economic field. On the sidelines of the Intergovernmental Committee, Romania’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the Romanian-Palestinian business forum. The Palestinian delegation attending the session in Bucharest included the ministers in charge of education and higher education, health, energy, tourism, public works and housing, officials of other ministries (interior, agriculture, finance, youth and sports) as well as representatives of some important Palestinian economic institutions. The previous session of the Intergovernmental Committee took place in Ramallah during February 28-March 1, 2011.
