Romanian businessmen and officials participated in the 32nd Trade Expo Indonesia 2017 (TEI 2017) in Jakarta, 11 – 15 October 2017. State Secretary for Business Environment and Entrepreneurship Romania, H.E Ms. Paula Pirvanescu had a meeting with Indonesian Trade Minister, H.E. Enggartiasto Lukita, to discuss the potential development of bilateral economic relations between Indonesia and Romania. In the meeting, State Secretary Pirvanescu was also accompanied by Romanian Ambassador to Indonesia Mrs. Valerica Epure.
In the meeting with Indonesian Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs A.M. Fachir, Romanian officials reiterated support regarding the issue of crude palm oil from Indonesia in the European Comission. Both sides have also underlined the importance of business to business contacts to realize the commitments made in the governmental level.
In this regard, Indonesian entrepeneurs are scheduled to visit Bucharest during 27 – 28 October 2017 to participate in business matching activities with Romanian enterpreneurs. These meetings will hopefully brings real economic results to Romania and Indonesia.
Potential commodities and sectors from Indonesia for Romanian market are crude palm oil (CPO), cacao, cosmetics, metal, and workforce. Romanian businessmen in workforce sector had the opportunity to present the potential of the Romanian labor market in front of Indonesian recruitment entrepreneurs in the areas of hospitality, domestic household, construction and truck drivers.
During TEI 2017, Romanian entrepreneurs have gained a more detailed picture of Indonesia’s capabilities in various fields and products. However, both countries needs to streamline the competence and certification in order to penetrate the Romanian and European markets.
The potential transactions recorded in TEI 2017 by Romanian businessmen amounts to 500,000 USD. In the near future, the businessmen will sign trade agreements between Harvesterstock Romania with Sinar Mas Group Indonesia in the field of CPO and Cocoa imports with Kalla Group.
The existing bilateral trade between Romania and Indonesia needs to be expanded. The main imported commodities from Indonesia to Romania are rubber, electronic spareparts, and paper. On the other hand, Indonesia imported wheat, machinary and heater, and aircraft from Romania.
The trade mission to TEI 2017 is a collaboration between the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bucharest, Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Turkish Airlines.
