Romania’s Ambassador to the US George Maior (photo) and former director of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), stated on Friday that he had a “very good” discussion with chair of the Parliamentary Committee overseeing the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI).
Claudiu Manda, mentioning that “it is in everyone’s interest” to clarify certain aspects presented in the public space.
“We established a date [for the hearing in the Committee – ed.n.]. I believe that we had a very good talk. It’s in everyone’s interest that certain aspects which surfaced in the public space be clarified. I have no reason, as I have never had, not to accept the invitation of any committee in order to discuss any issues raised by the members of that committee. I look forward to concluding this discussion and, at the same time, to carrying out very well the mandate as ambassador to the US,” Maior said at the end of his meeting with Manda in Parliament.
Subsequently, Claudiu Manda announced that George Maior will be heard in the Committee on 27 February, taking into account that he was the former Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service. The meeting on Friday between Maior and Manda lasted approximately one hour.
