Romania’s retail turnover up 8.6 pct in H1, 2014


Romania’s retail turnover volume (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) in the first half of 2014 grew by 8.6 percent, gross series compared to the first half of 2013, and by 8.2 percent as adjusted series for the number of working days and seasonality, according to data released on Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).

In H1, 2014, the retail turnover volume (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased in unadjusted terms, due to a surge in the sale of non-food products (+12.6 percent), in the sale of food, beverages and tobacco (+7.7 percent), and in fuel retail for motor vehicles in specialist shops (+2.7 percent).

According to INS, the retail turnover volume (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles), adjusted series for the number of working days and seasonality, rose as a result of an increase in the sale of non-food products (+12.3 percent), the sale of food, beverages and tobacco (+7.3 percent) and in fuel retail for motor vehicles in specialist shops (+3.8 percent).
