The Romanian Weightlifting Federation has decided that Roxana Cocos is the weightlifter of the year, mostly because of the bronze medal she won at the World Championships in Paris, Agerpres informs.
Roxana Cocos (22) did not take part in the European Championships this year but won the bronze medal at the World Championships, in the snatch event, finished the clean and jerk event on 6th place and finished the competition on 4th place in the overall rankings, being one of Romania’s hopes for an Olympic medal in London. Her record also includes a gold medal and two silver medals she won at the European Juniors Championships in Bucharest. In 2008, Cocos competed at the Beijing Olympic Games and finished on 8th place.
