The royal family will continue public activities at the Elisabeta Palace in Bucharest against a monthly compensation for the use of the property, representatives of the Royal House of Romania told AGERPRES.
According to the cited source, talks are underway between Her Majesty’s House and the State Protocol Property Corporation (RA-APPS) on the situation of the Elisabeta Palace. Throughout these negotiations “the royal family will continue public activities at the Elisabeta Palace and pay a monthly amount as compensation for the use of the property.”
Parliament is to define the statutes of the Royal House of Romania and the right to use the Elisabeta Palace is one of the aspects related to the subject.
Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Liviu Dragnea said on Monday that he further supports the bill on the new statutes of the Royal House but pointed out that the decision about the Elisabeta Palace is for the government to make.
“We don’t give up the project regarding the Royal House statutes,” Dragnea said when asked about the bill he and Senate Speaker Calin Popescu-Tariceanu have jointly initiated.
About the provision initially requiring the Royal House to hand over the Elisabeta Palace this February Dragnea said that the matter would be settled by decision of the government.
