A Lufthansa aircraft flying from Munich to Cluj was redirected yesterday at noon to the Sibiu airport due to fog, and the crew decided later to take off to Cluj-Napoca. “Lufthansa flight from Munich should have landed in Cluj-Napoca, but it was redirected to us from the Cluj Airport, due to fog. There were 57 passengers on board,” said spokesperson of Sibiu Airport Nicoleta Bobrodea, quoted by realitatea.net. She added that the first decision was made to set a coach transport for the passengers to Cluj but that the Lufthansa crew decided to recall them all aboard to take off for Cluj. According to the officials at the Sibiu Airport, the airplane should have landed in Cluj at 11.35 AM but reached Sibiu at 12.30 at noon. Five other flights which should have landed on “Henri Coanda” Otopeni Airport were redirected to Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport in Constanta, due to fog. The meteorologists issued a Code Yellow fog warning yesterday morning for Bucharest and nine other south-western counties, as well as for the A2 and A2 motorways, in effect till 2 PM.
