The government decision on the privatisation of CFR Marfa was approved by the government yesterday during a cabinet meeting, official sources told Mediafax. The act was debated by the government in first lecture last week, and then the approval of the Economic and Social Council (CES) has been awaited.
Given these circumstances, the Businessmen’s Association of Romania (AOAR) does not agree to the privatisation commitments assumed by the government, through the sale of packages of shares in important companies that control natural monopolies, such as Transelectrica and Transgaz, and also rejects the privatisation of CFR Marfa. The Supreme Defence Council (CSAT) last week okayed the draft government decree which approves the privatisation strategy of CFR Marfa, demanding the privatisation with a strategic investor and the observance of the company’s obligations towards MoD, NATO and other security structures.
