The Senate’s Speaker, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, has delegated his attributions, for the period for July 9-11, to the PSD Senator Adrian Tututianu, although, according to the announcement of the PSD Chairman Liviu Dragnea, the PSD-ALDE Coalition should take a decision on Monday on the President Klaus Iohannis’ suspension. The decision to delegate the attributions was published in the Official Journal.

The Speaker of the Deputies’ Chamber, Liviu Dragnea, stated on Thursday that he discussed with the Senate’s Speaker, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, and in his opinion, suspending President Klaus Iohannis must be a serious option. Dragena said that a decision should be taken on Monday.

Liviu Dragnea accused President Klaus Iohannis of “mocking the Constitution”, announcing that he discussed with Tariceanu about the President’s suspension, and the decision will be taken on Monday.

“I discussed now with Mr. Tariceanu and I told him that in my opinion, the President’s suspension must be a serious option, because if we only stand and complain that he doesn’t respect the Constitution today, he doesn’t respect the Constitution tomorrow, maybe he will send another presidential counselor to threat a CCR judge. Perhaps he sent presidential counselors to threat the judges from the High Court, nobody can say it isn’t true. And if we only stand and see this, then we don’t exercise an important attribute of this body, which is the supreme body in Romania. (…) Mr. Tariceanu said he also agrees with this, and in the coming days we must analyze these things very seriously, and on Monday we must take a decision: yes or no” Liviu Dragnea stated.
