Tarom air fleet needs new planes
Transport Minister Relu Fenechiu said yesterday that Tarom must increase its air fleet through acquisitions or leasing, in order to develop its operations. “For the time being, we hold talks. (…) There is the wish to develop the company, one cannot develop an aeronautical company without expanding its activity. And you can expand its activity only if you have more planes. We want to buy new planes and achieve a uniform fleet,” the minister mentioned after a press conference, answering a question. The air carrier had 2.19 million passengers last year, similarly to 2011, and the transport capacity on regular flights dropped by 5 pc. At the end of January, after a meeting with IMF officials, Fenechiu announced that authorities are drafting the privatisation strategy for Tarom and the state might give up more than 20 pc of shares.

Live would be wonderful if it would be soo easy : “More plane will bring more passengers” is the message of this minister. This minister is very clever, does this minister have brothers ?
More than new planes TAROM does need an effecient managemnt, honestly and clever and always working in the interest of the company. New airplanes are not as important : New planes does save fuel but cause additional financial costs like interest a.s.o.. The network of TAROM is so small that fiancial costs will be higher than the gain from less fuel.
