The Day of the Romanian Blouse, celebrated all over the world on The Fairies Night

On June 24, 2016, Romanians all over the world will celebrate for the fourth time in succession, the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse, a celebration of the Romanian blouse (“Ie”) and of the traditional shirt.

The Romanian blouse is a symbol of the Romanian identity and of the creativity within the Romanian territory, lasting since the ancient times.

The Day of the Romanian Blouse is celebrated together with the Fairies Night and wit The Birth of the Saint John the Baptist, close to the date of the Summer Solstice in the Northern hemisphere, marking the debut of the astronomic summer.

“The Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse will start on June 23 at the sunset, together with the magical Fairies Night. It will be an unforgettable celebration, lasting 3 days and 3 nights until Sunday, June 26, 2016”, according to the founders of La Blouse Roumaine, first online community dedicated to the Romanian Blouse as a national symbol.

The Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse was initiated by La Blouse Roumaine community on January 7, 2013, shortly becoming a global event, celebrated on 6 continents, in more than 50 countries.

Thus, Romanians and not only them, are invited to wear a Romanian Blouse, to take a photo and to post the images on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #ZiuaIei2016 #lablouseroumaine #RomanianBlouse #IAday2016, indicating the location were the photos were made.

The first film of the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse and of the Romanian summer will be made this year.

All the events validated by the La Blouse Roumaine IA Association will be subscribed to the official program of the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse and will be published on the global event’s map.

In Bucharest, Romanian Blouse lovers will meet in the evening of June 23, at 7.00 pm, in the Ioanid Park, where from they will start to walk on the sentimental Bucharest, following the footsteps of Mircea Eliade, the author of the novel called “The Forbidden Forest” (“Noaptea de Sinziene”). On the second day, the Fairies day, at 7.00 pm, the celebrating meeting will be held in front of the Athenaeum, were a family picture will be performed.

First official acknowledgement comes from overseas – USA are the first administration that officially acknowledged the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse by the proclamation issued by Washington City Hall (USA), on June 24, 2015. Their success owed to the efforts made by Bogdan Banu, graduate of George Washington University. This year the proclamation will be issued again, thanks to the involvement of the Romanian Embassy in Washington.
