The harsh winter is underway in Romania, with six roads still closed in Vaslui Co. However, car traffic has resumed on national roads.

Temperatures will go down to 20 C below freezing point tonight, but will register seasonable values starting from tomorrow, Ion Sandu, director of the National Meteorological Administration, announced .Weather will begin getting warmer from today, mainly in the western regions, but in the hilly and mountainous areas as well. The high will range from 4C in Banat and western Oltenia to -7C in Eastern Transylvania and Northern Moldavia. The sky will be cloudy, yet clearer in the south-east. Precipitations will be scarce snow in the northern and central regions and rain in Banat and Crisana. Ice is quite likely, which calls for careful driving and walking. Windy and fogy in the mountains and in Dobrogea in the morning.Today’s Bucharest weather starts off with frost and fog. Later in the day, the sun will emerge from among the clouds, yet, the high will not exceed 1C below 0.  Tomorrow, the warming process will be extending across the country, with a positive high of 1C at Miercurea Ciuc in eastern Transylvania, to 7C in the south-west, at Drobeta Turnu Severin. Cloudy sky, scattered sleet and snow in the northwestern and central regions, scanty rainfalls elsewhere. Ice and fog conditions in the morning, brisk wind in the mountains. Bucharest will see the weather get significantly warmer, today, yet clouding and a few drops of rain are quite likely. Temperatures will rise from -5 to -3C at dawn, and up to a high of 3C during the day.Intorsura Buzaului, Covasna County witnessed -28.3C yesterday morning, while Miercurea Ciuc, Harghita County saw a low of 26C below 0.While six roads in Vaslui Co. remain closed due to snow and blizzard, vehicle traffic nonetheless resumed Tuesday night into Wednesday morning on the four national roads crossing the county which had been closed since Tuesday morning. Nearly 500 police, fire fighters and gendarmes contributed to car traffic being restored on 38 roads in the counties of Vaslui, Botosani, Iasi, Neamt and Vrancea, and to assisting the people in snow-clogged motor vehicles.Three passenger buses drivers got police fines of RON 420 at Valea Grecului, Vaslui County, Tuesday, for not complying with signposts prohibiting their driving on the European road linking Husi and Vama Albita. Also, a youth was reported missing at Dagata, Iasi County, Monday evening, having left accompanied by another two males to help a stranded driver. Over 40 police gendarmes and fire fighters participate in the rescue operation.
