The movie ‘Diplomacy’ opened third International Film Festival ‘Cinepolitica’


The movie “Diplomacy” directed by Volker Schlondorff was screened Tuesday night at Studio Cinema in the opening of the third edition of the International Film Festival “Cinepolitica.” Screened for the first time in Berlin 2013, the movie brings to light two political figures that changed the course of history during World War II. The Nazi General Dietrich von Choltitz played by actor Niels Arestrup and Swedish consul Raoul Nordling, played by French artist Andre Dussollier.
The Competition section of this year’s edition of Cinepolitica Festival includes eight movies, “The Market,” directed by Jehane Noujaim, “Fire in the Blood,” directed by Dylan Mohan Gray, “Half of a Yellow Sun,” directed by Biyi Bandele, “Les Interdits,” directed by Anne Weil and Philippe Kotlarski, “Noise in the District,” directed by Kleber Mendonca Filho, “The Occupation, the 27th Image,” directed by Pavlo Marinkovic, “Paradjanov,” directed by Serge Avedikian and Olena Fetisova, and “The Angel of Death” directed by Lucia Puenzo.
The festival also presents movies in the sections “Panorama – Eye on Films,” “North and South,” “Special Screenings” and an event named “1914-2014. Illusion and terror: First World War” organized by the French-German Fund Elysee, the French Institute, Goethe Institute and the National Film Archive – Romanian Cinemateca, marking a hundred years since the breakout of the First World War.
The International Film Festival “Cinepolitica” will conclude on April 13 at Studio Cinema with the film “Yi jiu si er (Back to 1942) directed by Feng Xioagang. The production starring Adrien Brody, Tim Robbins, Guoli Zhang, Hanyu Zhang and Wei Fan depicts a sad episode in the history of China during its war against Japan, when Henan province was plagued by famine that caused millions of victims.
The movies during Cinepolitica Festival will be screened at Studio Cinema, Elvira Popescu Cinema and Union Cinema in Bucharest. Cinepolitica Festival is organized by the Association Culture and Image and under the patronage of the National University of Theatre and Cinema Art “I.L. Caragiale” and the National Arts University (UNArte.) The event is supported by the National Cinematography Center (CNC).
