The winners of Romanian Comedy Gala


The event was organized on Sunday night at “Radu Beligan” Hall of the Comedy Theatre in Bucharest.

The prizes of the Romanian Comedy Festival – festCO, at its 12th edition, and of the Romanian Comedy Contest, the ninth edition, were awarded during the event, reports Mediafax. This year, the Romanian Comedy Festival awarded the following prizes: “Radu Beligan” excellence prize to actor Florin Piersic along with the prize for the play “The Cello Lesson” in which Radu Beligan is playing.
At the official section, Ileana Lucaciu was responsible with the selection at festCO 2014 and the jury was made up of Ana Ciontea, Cristina Modreanu, Gheorghe Visu, Jozsef Bartha and AtillaVizauer. Thus, the grand jury prize was awarded to the show “Ce Formidable Bordel ! (A Hell of a Mess!) by Eugene Ionesco, directed by Silviu Purcarete and staged at the National Theatre Cluj-Napoca. As for the prize for the best show, that went to “A…chest,” a collective creation after Ion Creanga, directed by Alexandru Dabija and staged at Youth Theatre in Piatra Neamt.
Gianina Carbunaru was awarded the prize for the best directing for her show “Solidarity” staged at the National Theatre “Radu Stanca” in Sibiu. At the category “best actor in main role” the prize was awarded to Marius Florea Vizante for the role Petrica in the show “At dad’s” by Mimi Branescu, directed by Vlad Massaci, staged at the Comedy Theatre, and the prize at the category “best actress in main role” was awarded to Antoaneta Zaharia for her role Dacia in the show “Titanic Vals,” by Tudor Musatescu, directed by Alexandru Dabija and staged at Odeon Theatre.
As for the prize for best actor in supporting role, that went to Ionut Caras for the roles The Demon and Hag Anica in the show “Sanziana si Pepelea” by Vasile Alecsandri, directed by Alexandru Dabija and staged at the National Theatre Cluj-Napoca, and the prize for the best actress in supporting role went to Mirela Oprisor for the role Mia in the show “At Dad’s” staged at the Comedy Theatre.
The section Teatre Independente, the special jury prize went to “Freak Show,” a one-man show with Florin Piersic Junior, the prize for the best show went to “Zic-Zac” by Andreea Gavriliu and Stefan Lupu, directed by Andreea Gavriliu and staged at Godot Cafe-Teatru, and the prize “New at the New Hall” was awarded to the show “The Fissure” by Flavius Lucacel directed by Victor Olahut. As for the Romanian Comedy Contest – playwright, the first prize was awarded to “The Orangutan” by Marian Popescu,” the second prize went to “The Dog” by Mona Radu and the third prize went to “La Vita e Bella” by Radu F. Alexandru. A special mention went to “Fresh Air” by Vera Ion. This year’s Romanian Comedy Festival festCO was held between May 24 and June 1.
