Three original projects at B’ESTFEST Summer Camp

Less than two weeks before B’ESTFEST Summer Camp (July 1-3) kicks off, three more original projects are added to the festival’s Arts& Crafts area. Alongside the workshops and presentations already announced, the area will also include exhibitions of photography on wood, object collages and painting on metro cards.

Throughout the three days of the festival, the Arts& Crafts area will host an exhibition of photography on wood, playfully titled “Wood Be Nice”. The initiator of the project is Daniel Loagar, who discovered and experimented with this technique of transferring images onto unconventional media – in this particular case, wood. The entire project was set up alongside Andrei Cornea in the creative studio “Una Isola Muy Hermosa” and the two founding members were subsequently joined by three more artists. To complete this project, the six studio members put in nearly three months’ work and thus created around 60 photographs on wood. You can find further details on this visiting http://respir-art.blogspot.com/.

At the same time, Daniel Loagar also prepared for B’ESTFEST Summer Camp 2011 an exhibition of object collages or, to use the exact term, “assemblages”. All the artist’s works start from a story, based on which he draws up a preliminary sketch, combining several techniques – sculpture, painting, wood or metal polishing, slippage and clipping – to obtain his final result.

In the past years, Daniel Loagar has     participated, with his works, in numerous fairs and exhibitions, including the “Handmade Factory” fairs, the “Romanian Papergirl” exhibition or the Green Fair. “M-card” is a project initiated five years ago, by one of the most popular street art & graffiti artists in Bucharest. Using as his medium that which thousands of people in Bucharest throw away on a daily basis, Cage creates impressive drawings on a piece of cardboard most of us fail to find a use for once the number of trips runs out. “M-card” is a daring, cool, project, original both in terms of medium and in terms of subject matter.
