Tokes hands over ‘Star of Romania’ medal to the Reformed Church

MEP Laszlo Tokes yesterday handed over to the Reformed Church of Timisoara the medal ‘Star of Romania’ with the rank of Knight, which he received in 2009 from President Traian Basescu, along with the order by which he was knighted, Mediafax informs. “If anyone wants to take the Star of Romania back, let him come to Timisoara,” Tokes said in a press conference held at the head office of the Reformed Church of Timisoara, the place where the Revolution of December 1989 has started. In December 2009, on the 20th anniversary of the Revolution, President Traian Basescu declared Laszlo Tokes as Knight of the National Order Star of Romania. On July 27 this year, Tokes asked Hungarian PM Viktor Orban, during the Summer University ‘Balvanyos,’ to set in place, together with his government, “a system of national cooperation” that will grant the status of “protectorate” to Transylvania, “same as Austria did with South Tirol.” In retort, Basescu stated at the Summer University of Izvoru Muresului (Harghita), that “he does not deserve his quality of Romanian citizen he who wants Transylvania turned into a protectorate.”
