Nobody has the interest to close Hidroserv, but it must be correctly resized, Remus Borza said.

Dozens of employees of Hidroserv Portile de Fier protested Saturday at the meeting with the judicial administrator of Hidroelectrica, Remus Borza, upset because they were not allowed to attend the talks scheduled with him, Mediafax reports. The meeting Saturday between the personnel of Hidroelectrica Portile de Fier and judicial administrator Remus Borza was held at the headquarters of the Drobeta Turnu Severin Autonomous Company for Nuclear Activities, in presence of dozens of employees of Hidroserv Portile de Fier, wishing to learn the fate of their jobs, as layoffs have been announced by all Hidroserv units at country scale. “We are the trade union of Portile de Fier and we are prohibited the legal right to participate in the talks. Mr. Borza ordered his employees to stop me from entering the room. I was threatened that I am not allowed to enter the room,” said the president of the Portile de Fier trade union, Cristinel Popescu.Eventually, the union leader was allowed at the talks with Remus Borza, but the other employees had to wait outside, as Remus Borza explained that the meeting was planned with the personnel of Hidroelectrica Portile de Fier, not those of Hidroserv.

After more than three hours of talks, Remus Borza informed the Hidroserv unionists that “their fate is in their hands,” because restructurings are needed if the company wants to become competitive. “Hidroserv units must understand that the moment has come for them to restructure themselves, because otherwise we will put to auction a significant part of our works, as of April 1st, and it is obvious that the Hidroserv units, or the new Hidroserv will not have the chance to take works from Hidroelectrica. We must put an end to this policy of directly awarding works, which does nto stimulate or motivate contractors or service providers,” Borza stated.Remus Borza explained that the budget of Hidroelectrica for the maintenance works provided by Hidroserv Portile de Fier amounts to RON 35 M, while the expenses budgeted by Hidroserv top RON 72 M, and the difference must be secured from other contracts.Eventually, the judicial administrator of Hidroelectrica added that, in order to resist, the eight Hidroserv units must merge into just one, cut the personnel from 2,500 to 1,800 and expand their activity object to more complex works, by getting involved in hydro technic construction works that were traditionally awarded to Hidroconstructia or Constructii Hidrotehnice Iasi in the last 20 years, accept equipment installing works that went to Energomontaj during the last years, get into the automation projects specific to Romelectro, and also take design and pre-feasibility orders.
