The Wine Road linking Romania to the Republic of Moldova will be completed by the end of 2019, Romania’s Tourism Minister Bogdan Trif announced on Friday in the town of Fintesti, southern county of Buzau, at a joint news conference with Director General of Moldova’s Tourism Agency Stanislav Rusu.

The project is part of a co-operation agreement on tourism between the two countries, which is in the process of being completed, under which joint holiday packages will be launched.

“The Wine Road” will be added to the “Road of Ruler Stephen the Great” and Saint’s joint project, with four locations in Romania and five locations in Moldova. The inventory of wine cellars in the two countries has already started, and next week talks will be held with tour operators, and by the end of this year, this project, which will link the two countries, will be completed,” Trif said.

In his turn, Director of the Tourism Agency of the Republic of Moldova Stanislav Rusu said that “wine tourism is like a magnet that connects people and nations.”

“We have moved from words to deeds; the Wine Road is almost complete, common routes will be established in the two countries that will include wineries and vineyards, but other common projects are also under consideration,” said Rusu.

The two officials attended in Fintesti the presentation of the Lacerta winery established on an investment in excess of 8 million euros.
