A Romanian immigrant was arrested and another is searched internationally under the accusation of beating and raping a Polish student, in the center of Milan, Mediafax reports, quoting the site TGcom24.it. The Polish student, who is in Italy for a scholarship offered through the academic program Erasmus, was assaulted on June 28, but the incident was reported on Thursday by Italian authorities. The young student (23) had spent the evening with colleagues at an open-air restaurant in downtown Milan. When she left, she was approached by two men who beat her and took her by force to a nearby park, where they raped her. Based on the portraits drawn by the victim and on the images caught by surveillance cams placed in the Santissima Trinita Park, Italian authorities identified the suspects. Romanian man S.O. was arrested and DNA tests confirmed he took part in the rape. His accomplice – a Romanian as well – is the subject of an international search warrant and might be in Romania now.
