UDMR Chairman Kelemen Hunor stated on Thursday at the Europa FM interviews that PNL Chair Ludovic Orban “has a problem of arithmetic” and told him on Monday morning, when they had a coffee: “Ludovic, if you want to woo me, find another text. This one works on younger children, not on me”. Kelemen also said that, given the number of votes received in Parliament by the Dancila Government, perhaps PNL parliamentarians also voted for it. The UDMR leader claimed that “the most important tragedy is that we don’t have an alternative in the opposition”, because the project “let’s kill PSD” is an extremely important project, but it couldn’t be taken into account in the future.
As for Ludovic Orban’s statement according to which the Government wouldn’t have passed without UDMR, Kelemen Hunor replied: “I think Mister Orban has several problems, but he has a problem of arithmetic for sure. So, if we add all the votes, we can see that this Government would have passed, on the one hand, and on the other hand, as far as I remember, this Government received more votes than the Grindeanu Government or than the Tudose Government”.
The UDMR leader mentioned that Ludovic Orban told him, too, that if UDMR wouldn’t vote for the Government, there would also be parliamentarians in the PSD-ALDE coalition who wouldn’t vote for it.
“Ludovic Orban told me this, too, on Monday morning, when we had a coffee, and I said: ‘Ludovic, if you want to woo me, find another text. This one works on younger children, not on me’. So telling me and expecting me to believe that the ALDE and PSD parliamentarians gain courage depending on my behavior, means that you overestimate or underestimate me, when you think I will believe you when you say this. It doesn’t work. It really is so simple and easy. Yet, expecting me to be so naïve and believe you when you say that the others gain courage depending on how I behave, it’s hilarious” Kelemen Hunor stated.
He also spoke about the fact that the PNL leader had no plan on what he would have done after the rejection of the Dancila Cabinet.
“I said: Ok, let’s say that the Dancila Cabinet will not pass. What’s next? Well, we don’t know, we’ll talk later. I said: No way. So, after 27 years, I don’t accept this. If we want to build something, we start talking several weeks or months before, we decide what to do, because otherwise it’s not possible to tell me before the voting that you don’t know what you want to do later, but to agree with me, and we’ll see later what to do” Kelemen said.
The UDMR Chairman said there is no dialogue with the parties in the opposition: “There is a lack of dialogue. We meet every four month. Last meeting was in September, or when the censure motion was debated”.
“I would have liked a center-right Government. I didn’t vote in 2016 with PSD or ALDE, or with PNL, PMP, USR (…), but I respect the votes of the citizens. The most important tragedy is not that we have the third Government in one year, the most important tragedy is that we don’t have an alternative in the opposition. The project “let’s kill PSD” is an extremely important project, but it couldn’t be taken into account in the future. It’s not a valuable project, removing those who won the elections in 2016 is not a governing program. I would have wished to have a center-right Government, but it’s not my fault that this is the situation” UDMR Chairman pointed out.
He wished to mention that it is also true that you can’t do whatever you want if you won the elections.
“There were several signatures from PSD-ALDE also at Cotroceni. Arithmetically, they had 9 or 10 additional signatures. What could Mr. Iohannis do when he had no offer from Mr. Orban?” Kelemen Hunor also stated.
UDMR Chairman also said that Ludovic Orban is making another mistake, too, because he gives the impression that he is fighting against PSD, but actually, when he has the opportunity, “he sticks one more knife” in UDMR. “He will not have anything to win. He will not make PSD fall by sticking knives in us” Kelemen said.
Regarding the investiture of the Dancila Government, the UDMR Chairman also stated: “It means that some of the PNL parliamentarians also voted, because otherwise it doesn’t fit, since those from PSD didn’t multiply by division, there was somebody else who gave a few votes”.
