Unemployment rate, slightly down in November
The turnover of the retail trade sector and electricity consumption up at 11 months.
The turnover of the retail trade sector, except for car sales, registered a slight reduction of 1 pc in nominal figures during November 2012, compared to the previous month, but increased by more than 3 pc against November 2011 and by 3.8 pc at 11 months last year, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS). The turnover of the retail trade sector (except cars and motorcycles), in series adjusted with the number of working days and seasonal factors, advanced by 2.0 pc in November 2012 compared to the previous month, driven by the sales of fuel (+3.5 pc), food products, drinks and tobacco (+2.0 pc) and non-food goods (+1.9 pc).For the first 11 months of 2012, the turnover of the retail trade (except cars and motorcycles), in series adjusted with the number of working days and seasonal factors, increased compared to the previous month due to the sales of fuel for motor vehicles through specialised shops (+7.7 pc), food products, drinks and tobacco (+3.1 pc) and non-food goods (+2.5 pc).Also according to the INS, final electricity consumption at 11 months in 2012 advanced by 0.4 pc to 48.35 bln KWh, against the similar interval of 2011, while electricity resources decreased by 2.9 pc to 54.93 bln KWh. The decline of the electricity resources was mainly caused by a 3.3 drop in output, Mediafax reports. During January-November last year, the output of hydropower plants diminished by 21 pc to 11.35 bln kWh and that of nuclear power plants declined by 2.4 pc to 10.47 bln KWh. On the other hand, production increases were reported by thermal power plants (+0.8 pc, to 30 bln KWh) and wind turbines to 2.24 bln KWh. Electricity export amounted to 651.9 M KWh, down 72.5 pc. The main primary energy resources during January-November 2012 stood at 31 M tons of oil equivalent (toe), down 2.7 pc against the same interval of 2011. The domestic output decreased by 2.3 pc to 20.9 M toe and import went down 3.4 pc, to 10.1 M toe.
Population’s incomes advanced by RON 61 in Q3
The unemployment rate in seasonally adjusted form decreased in November by 0.2 pc compared to the previous month, to 6.7 pc, and by 0.9 pc compared to November 2011; the number of jobless aged between 15 and 74 reached 674,000, according to data released by the INS. In October, there were 695,000 unemployed persons, and 750,000 in November. In the case of adult persons (age 25-74), the unemployment rate was estimated at 5.3 pc for November 2012 (5.7 pc for men and 4.7 pc for women). INS also informs that population’s incomes per homestead advanced to RON 2,457 in Q3 last year, from RON 2,396 in April-June 2012, as money incomes increased by RON 68, from RON 2012 to RON 2080, while incomes in kind dropped by RON 7, from RON 384 to RON 377. According to the results of the family budgets survey conducted by the INS, during Q3 2013 the average money incomes accounted for 84.7 pc of all incomes.In the same interval, total monthly expenses amounted to an average RON 2,214 per homestead, up RON 59. Average consumption expenses represented 72.1 pc of the sum. Monthly average total incomes reached RON 2,457 per homestead in nominal terms, and RON 856 for one person. Average money incomes amounted to RON 2,080 per homestead (RON 725 for one person) and monthly incomes in kind were RON 377 per homestead (RON 131 for one person).The salaries of state employees increased by 8 pc as of July 1st, with the majority of incomes being registered starting July.
