Unemployment up by 0.23 pc in January

The unemployment rate registered at the end of January 2013 stood at 5.82 per cent at national level, being higher by 0.23 per cent compared to December 2012 and by 0.45 per cent compared to January 2012, the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) announced yesterday. According to the aforementioned source, the total number of unemployed persons registered at the end of January stood at 513,349, up by 19,574 persons compared to the end of the previous month.
Ordered by age groups, 81,533 unemployed persons were under the age of 25, 40,212 were part of the 25-29 age group, 119,614 part of the 30-39 age group, 138,793 part of the 40-40 age group, 63,680 part of the 50-55 age group and 69,517 part of the 55+ age group.
According to ANOFM, the unemployment rate has dropped in three counties – Vrancea (-0.06 per cent), Harghita (-0.04 per cent) and Cluj (-0.01 per cent).
The highest unemployment levels were reached in the following counties: Vaslui (10.99 per cent), Teleorman (10.33 per cent), Mehedinti (10.21 per cent), Dolj (10.11 per cent), Alba (9.55 per cent), Galati (9.54 per cent) and Buzau (8.54 per cent).

    Another manipulated figure that ignores the huge numbers of rural people who have no regular income. In my experience, the true unemployment rate is probably 10 times that quoted in this article.
