Blaga does not believe the two will answer the former Premier’s call.

Civic Force Party leader Mihai Razvanu Ungureanu considers that if Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Andrei Chiliman separate themselves “from what Crin Antonescu and his team represent,” then a common language with an opposition party such as the Civic Force will be found. Ungureanu was asked on Monday evening, on Digi 24, whether he could see himself in the same team with Andrei Chiliman, Ludovic Orban and Calin Popescu Tariceanu if they will no longer be members of PNL. “If at some point important PNL leaders deem right to separate themselves from what Crin Antonescu and his team represent, I rightly believe that a common right-wing language will be found this time, and I say it clearly, with a party, the Civic Force for example, from the current opposition,” Mihai Razvan Ungureanu added. He also stated that Crin Antonescu’s “anti-European and profoundly anti-democratic attitude” within his own party “makes people with remarkable political experience, people such as Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Andrei Chiliman, both of which have remarkable Liberal careers, feel humiliated.” PDL President Vasile Blaga stated yesterday that he does not want to comment the invitation that Mihai Razvan Ungureanu extended to Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Andrei Chiliman, but stated that in his opinion the two Liberals will not accept the invitation to join the Civic Force. “I won’t comment, but I know them very well because they were our collaborators in the Justice and Truth Alliance, and Mr. Chiliman and Mr. Tariceanu will not honor it,” Blaga stated. In his turn, PDL Secretary General Gheorghe Flutur stated that the Democrat-Liberals too have the obligation to coagulate the parties and important politicians on the right wing of the political spectrum and that he is “convinced” that there are also other Liberals that feel they are “on the wrong path” with USL. Blaga’s and Ungureanu’s statements come after the row that erupted within PNL around District 1 Mayor Andrei Chiliman. PNL President Crin Antonescu stated on Monday that there is no room for both him and Andrei Chiliman in the party at the same time and the party’s congress has to choose between him and the District 1 Mayor considering the accusations that the latter brought against the party’s leadership. Chiliman launched several attacks against the PNL President in recent days.
