US Ambassador in Bucharest Hans Klemm said on Saturday that a lot of positive things are being accomplished under the Strategic Partnership between the US and Romania, voicing also full confidence in the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) and the agency’s management.
“We are doing a lot under our Strategic Partnership, and a specific area where we are doing a very good job is that of law enforcement authorities. The Romanian and American prosecutors and law enforcement agencies in general are having a very, very good cooperation. And this allows us to fight terrorism together, fight cybercrime, combat human trafficking, fight organized crime and corruption. We have been able to do this only thanks to the very good leadership of Romanian law enforcement institutions and of Romanian prosecutors. Therefore we have full confidence in, for instance, the National Anticorruption Directorate and its management”, Klemm said when asked what his opinion is about Justice Minister Tudorel Toader’s move towards the dismissal of DNA Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi.
The US ambassador in Bucharest attended on Saturday the event “Women of Romania 2018”.
