Visit of Allied Land Command Chief in Romania – missions, land forces reviewed


The structure of the Romanian land forces, their transformation, the missions carried out by military in theatres of operations, the Romanian Army endowment and modernisation programmes, as well as the ongoing missions of the land forces were presented these days to Allied Land Command Chief, Lieutenant General Frederick Hodges, who paid a working visit to Romania on April 14 and 15.
According to a press release of the National Defence Ministry (MoD), during the visit, Lieutenant General Hodges had meetings with Secretary of State for Defence and Planning Policy Valeriu Nicut, with General Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Stefan Danila and with National Defence University Rector, Air Flotilla General Gabriel-Florin Moisescu.
At the end of the meeting with Land Forces Chief of Staff, Major General Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, the guest said that during his visit to Romania he saw an army prepared for the future, investing in the development of the military education system, and found impressive the training of the young cadets, students of the Land Forces Academy.
“The training centre of Cincu is about to become an important regional centre, a multinational training element that can also be used by the countries in the area. We shall continue to support the collaboration of the Allied Land Command with the Romanian Land Forces. When I see a Romanian military, I see a NATO military, Lieutenant General Hodges” said at the end of the meeting with Land Forces Chief of Staff Major General Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca.
Major General Ciuca thanked Lieutenant General Hodges for the constant support provided by the US partners.
‘I am convinced that the good collaboration between our institutions will continue and we shall try to keep on identifying new modalities of cooperation and joint activities,’ Major General Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca pointed out.
The activity schedule also included visits at ‘Nicolae Balcescu’ Land Forces Academy, with presentations of the military education system and the training and preparation method of the future leaders, at the land forces battle training centre of Cincu, with presentations of the training infrastructure and facilities, as well as of the manner of conducting the specific training programmes and the capabilities of the centre for training forces on a multinational level.
