Volksbank Romania launches a new project of financial education: the Financial Health Test – an interactive quiz meant to identify the weak spots in the management of personal finance and give advice adapted to each respondent. The conclusions of the pilot study made on 400 bank employees show that 52 pc know the theory about the management of personal budget, but do not apply it. They spend more than they planned and sometimes they must resort to loans in order to cover their monthly expenses. In terms of savings, only 15 pc of subjects regularly save money and have a cash supply big enough to cope with changes in their financial situation, while 65 pc do not save money on a regular basis and said that the cash they accumulated would not be enough for unforeseen situations – illness, unemployment, car repair costs. In terms of intent to purchase a building, 57 pc say that they already have a home or prefer to rent an apartment, so they do not want to buy a home in the near future, while 38 pc would take a loan if they decided to make a real estate acquisition.
