Women’s handball: Romania defeats Germany twice in a row

The Romanian women’s national handball team defeated Germany on Saturday in the second friendly game played in Baia Mare, score 31-25 (14-12 at half time). Romania won the game on Friday too, score 33-32, Agerpres informs. On Saturday the team coached by Gheorghe Tadici clearly dominated the game, being permanently in the lead and chalking up an easy victory at a difference of 6 goals. Romania won Friday’s game after Aurelia Bradeanu scored in the final seconds, score 33-32. After the games against Germany the team will briefly reunite on April 14-17 and will be summoned on June 1 for the official games against Belarus in the European Championship 2014 qualifiers, Mediafax informs. The two legs counting for a place at the final tournament hosted by Hungary and Croatia will be played on June 11 and June 15. Romania was defeated by Norway in the first two games of Group 6, in October 2013, score 25-23 and 30-18. Norway has already qualified for the final tournament. The EC 2014 qualifiers consist of 26 teams that will play in five groups of four teams each and two groups of three teams each. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the final tournament. Host nations Hungary and Croatia have qualified directly for the final tournament that will take place on December 7-21, 2014. The cities that will host the final tournament games are Budapest, Debrecen, Gyor (Hungary), Zagreb, Varadzin and Porec (Croatia).
