Women’s handball: Romania qualifies in Under-18 World Championship semifinals


The Romania women’s national handball team has qualified for the semifinals of the Under-18 World Championship held in Macedonia, after defeating, on Wednesday, in Ohrid, the Dutch national team by the score of 36-22 (22-12). Romania will play in the semifinals against the winner of the match between Brazil and Montenegro, on Friday at 18.00 EEST.
The team coached by Aurelian Rosca and Gavril Kozma dominated the game against the Dutch team that had surprisingly defeated the Hungarian team in the round of 16, the Romanian side having a 10-goal lead at half-time that rose to 16 goals 55 minutes into the match, with the final score 36-22.
Bianca Maria Bazaliu was Romania’s top goal scorer, with 12 goals, the other goals being put in the net by Cristina Laslo – 9, Lorena Ostase – 3, Alexandra Dindiligan – 3, Andreea Taivan – 2, Oana Maria Buca – 2, Dana Abed-Kader – 2, Alina Ilie – 2, Iulia Maria Andrei – 1. Annika Noordink was the top goal scorer for the Dutch team with 5 goals.
