The Romanian and international world of martial arts is in mourning. Sensei Dan Stuparu, president of the Romanian Traditional Karate Federation and Vice President of the International Traditional Karate Federation, died on Sunday morning after he suffered a heart attack, realitatea.net informs. Born in 1951, Dan Stuparu leaves behind whole generations of coaches and athletes for whom he was a true mentor and idol. Sensei Dan Stuparu was one of the pioneers of traditional karate in Romania. He is one of the people that founded the Romanian Martial Arts Federation (FRAM) immediately after the December 1989 revolution, martial arts being banned during communist times.
