Writer, journalist and professor Ana Maria Sireteanu, director of Radio Romania Cultural station between 1996 and 2002 died on Friday, aged 69, after a prolonged suffering, reports the website of radioromaniacultural.ro. Ana Maria Sireteanu was born in Bucharest on February 21, 1945. She was the niece, on her mother’s line of Braescu family, of famous skydiving aviation performer Smaranda Braescu and painter Tache Braescu. Ana Maria Sireteanu’s father was theatre and movie actor Dorin Sireteanu, famous in the period between the wars for his main roles in Romanian movies such as “Iancu Jianu” and “Ciuleandra.” Ana Maria Sireteanu was member of the Romanian Writers’ Union, poetry, and the Association of Psychologists of Romania, the National Journalists Council of Romania. She was involved in non-governmental activity, as president of the cultural association ARCVIPP, through which she paid homage to her famous aunt Smaranda Braescu. “Ana Maria Sireteanu leaves behind a rich radio legacy, through the shows and programs organized, through the students and young journalists she prepared and guided. The colleagues in the public radio stations mourn the loss of one of the most honest and unbiased Romanian journalists after 1990, modest and with a great love for people and communication and are near her entire family. God may rest her soul!” reads the website radioromaniacultural.ro.
